10 Ways To Avoid Negativity And Banish Bad Thinking Habits
If you are serious about manifesting your desires with the Law of Attraction then you need to avoid negativity at all costs. A negative thinker will send out all of the wrong vibrations to the Universe, and what they will manifest is more negative things. A negative mindset can also bring you a lot of pain and misery.
You may well be aware that your thoughts make you what you are. Successful people do everything that they can to eradicate negative thought patterns, and adopt positive thinking strategies that will ensure that they achieve their desires. If you have had negative feelings for most of your life then you will not have the life that you truly desire.
It is always advisable to get rid of negativity as negative thought patterns can truly have a strong and catastrophic impact on your life. It is surprisingly easy to get into a cycle of negative thinking, and you can liken this to making your mind a prison. Your mind will then keep you in the place that you are now and you will never move on.
To stop being negative people will try all kinds of solutions. These techniques do not work for very long, and before you know it you are back to your old negative thinking ways. You can create distractions that stop you from thinking negatively, but these will only work as long as the distraction holds your attention.
Then there is the classic strategy of drowning your sorrows with alcohol. The problem with alcohol is that it can actually accentuate your anxiety and negativity which makes things a whole lot worse for you. Even if it doesn’t do this and you do manage to escape your negative mind for a while, you will have to face it again soon and have a hangover to boot!
Having negative thoughts from time to time is perfectly natural. This happens to even the most positive thinking of people. But developing a negative mind through cynicism, pessimism and criticism is what you want to avoid. You don’t want to be in a position where you have negative automatic thoughts.
When you are in this state of mind then you will start predicting that bad things will happen to you. You will regularly believe that you will fail – and then you will fail. Whatever you think about constantly you will get. What you need to keep in perspective is that this negative attitude is something that you have learned and developed.
People are not born with negative thoughts all the time swirling around in their heads. Other people can influence you in a negative way, as can the things that you see and hear. For example there are a lot of dark places on the Internet where you can easily get into a state of negative depression before too long, and without trying too hard.
The good news is that you have the power to change all of this and experience no more negative thoughts (well very few anyway). So in this article we have brought you 10 techniques that you can easily employ and learn how to get rid of negativity.
You must know when Negative Thought Patterns are occurring
Negative thoughts removal will only occur when you are fully able to recognize that you are thinking bad thoughts and that this is happening on a repetitive basis. These negative thoughts will not help you in any way, and can really conjure up some strong negative emotions which can really make you feel bad and lethargic.
So you need to know when the negative thought patterns are occurring and then you can do something about it. There are a number of reasons why these bad thought patterns can start to fill your head:
Anxiety Negative Thoughts
Do you find yourself thinking that nothing good will ever happen to you or that a number of bad things are just around the corner? You may be anxious about the state of your health and feel that it is getting worse, or that your relationship is going downhill and that you will lose the one that you love. These things have not happened but they feel very real to you.
Another classic example is the development of a scarcity mindset and a total focus on the lack of things in your life. You have the belief that things will never improve and that your financial future is in jeopardy and that you are going to lose everything including your partner and your family.
This kind of anxiety negative thinking is unfortunately very common. You focus on a bleak future where you will be thinking that just about everything is going to go wrong. You can overcome these anxiety bad thoughts, but first you need to recognize that they are happening to you on a regular basis.
Do you beat yourself up regularly?
This is another common pattern of negative thinking. You feel the need to constantly criticize yourself and beat yourself up. The only thing that you focus on is your perceived weaknesses and flaws. Once you have established this kind of pattern it is all too easy to start finding fault in others as well.
People will not want to be around you if you have a consistently low opinion of yourself. If you are consistently picking holes in your partner then this can be the quickest way to the divorce courts. Your self esteem will really hit rock bottom if you don’t control these bad thoughts in your head.
Low self esteem can completely debilitate you and make you feel worthless. People in this state will never achieve their desires, and it is one of the major causes of negative thoughts. This is a very easy trap to fall into, and fortunately it is relative easy to get out of it as well.
Past mistakes and feeling Guilty
A lot of people will constantly remind themselves of mistakes that they have made in the past. Everybody has made mistakes in their past and you need to be able to move on from this. If you don’t then you can conjure up feelings of guilt and believe that you can never succeed at anything.
The past is not all bad, and we can often develop ourselves in a good way by using it as a reference. If you made a mistake before you will not go and make the same mistake again. The problem arises when you decide to spend too much time dwelling in the past. Negativity occurs when you focus on how stupid you were before and beat yourself up about this.
Focusing on Problems
Everyone has problems in their life both large and small. Concentrating on these problems, even when they have been resolved, is a sure way to induce negativity. As a species we tend to focus on the bad things in our lives rather than the good things. You can change this.
Imagine that you are travelling around with your family and suddenly the car breaks down. This immediately fills your head with negative thoughts. How are you going to manage without a car? You get the car fixed and it was a simple problem. But now you are constantly thinking that your car will let you down at any time. Negative thinking patterns are the result.
Thinking about what you don’t have
Do you spend a lot of time thinking about those things that you don’t have in your life? Do you constantly crave new things and stress out when you can’t have them instantly? This is a modern disease that affects a lot of people. It is sure to bring on unwanted negative thought patterns.
If you suffer from this “wanting” problem then you will end up discontent and restless. You need to stop concentrating on what you want, and appreciating the things that you already have. Otherwise you will believe that your life simply isn’t good enough which will lead to negative thinking and depression.
Change Negative Thinking to Positive Thinking
This is a really simple and effective way to change your negative thought patterns into positive thought patterns. What you will be doing here is neutralizing any negative thoughts with positive thoughts. This will work for you, but you will probably have to practice quite a bit before the good think replaces the bad think.
It is best to illustrate this technique by way of an example. Let’s assume that you have had a major issue in your life like losing a high paying job, and having to downgrade to a lower paying form of employment.
A negative thought on this would be “it is going to be really tough for us to adjust to this new way of life”. Immediately think positively by neutralizing the negative thought with “there will be some challenges along the way but we will grow stronger from this and turn our life around”.
It is easy to come up with counteracting positive thinking patterns to neutralize pessimistic thoughts. Just reflect on the negative thought and turn it around. If you are self criticizing and thinking “I can never do this and I always give up” then spin the positive by thinking “now I can do anything and I never give up”. Don’t dismiss this as too simple – it really works.
Put a Smile on your face
If you go around with a permanent frown then negative thought patterns will never be far away. When you are next out in a crowded place, look at the expressions on people’s faces. Are any of them smiling? If they are then they will be the center of attention in this crowd.
It is easier to smile than to frown. It takes more muscles to frown. When you smile you will release positive energy into your body and it will have an amazing effect on you and those around you. Your mood will certainly change from negative into positive and any stress will melt away.
Try Meditation and Yoga
When you meditate or practice yoga you will clear your mind as you will be concentrating on other things such as your breathing. Both of these activities will relax you and help to ease your mind. You will bring yourself back to the present time rather than reflecting in the past or speculating about your future.
Avoid Negative people and find Positive people
The benefits of doing this are really worth the effort but it may prove to be quite a challenge. We all have people in our lives that are on automatic negative thinking and refuse to entertain any uplifting thoughts. These could be members of your family, friends or even people that you work with. Avoid them as much as you can, otherwise overcoming negativity will be very difficult for you.
It is likely that you will know people that have a very positive outlook on life. Maybe they were able to help you out in the past. Reach out to them and tell them that you are in the process of overcoming negative thoughts. They will help you to put things in perspective and be a lot more positive about your life.
Take Responsibility for your life
Stop thinking about yourself as the victim all of the time. Nobody is targeting you for bad things to happen. Always believe that there is a way around any problem. If your life isn’t how you want it then stop complaining and take responsibility for changing it. People with a positive mental attitude always take responsibility for their life.
Do something to Help another person
Focusing on yourself all of the time can lead to negative thoughts in your mind. So break out of this pattern and help someone else. There will be somebody that would very much appreciate you helping them so get in touch with them and do the good deed. You will stop thoughts of negativity and feel great about yourself afterwards. It’s a win-win.
Stop trying to be Perfect
Here is something that you will already know – nobody is perfect and that includes you! If you are a perfectionist then you are creating a strong reason for negative thoughts. Why? Because you are going to make mistakes and then you will want to beat yourself up for doing this.
If you make a mistake it doesn’t matter. Just accept that everybody makes mistakes and move on. Learn from your mistakes by all means but don’t dwell on them for hours on end. When you do this changing negative thought patterns will be a lot easier.
Gratitude
A lot of negative thinking occurs because people are not grateful for what they have. Stop reading this right now and write down 5 things that you are truly grateful for. These do not have to be material things. You can be grateful that you have a great family, that you have food to eat and water to drink, that you have a job that provides all of this and so on.
Start a gratitude journal and add new things to it every day. If you had a good experience during the day then record this. Be grateful that you are alive and have air to breathe. Be grateful for your partner and your children. Reflect on your gratitude diary often to see just how much you are grateful for.
Fill your life with Positivity
There are so many things that you can do here. Decide that you are going to have a positive thinking day and that you will not think negatively at all. Put positive thinking posters up in your home and watch positive thinking videos online. Read positive thinking books and read positive thinking quotes every day.
The easy way to Remove Negative Thoughts
Negativity is rooted in your sub conscious mind and you need to eradicate negative beliefs if you want to clear your mind of negative thoughts. There is an audio program available now that will help you to do this easily and its name is 15 Minute Manifestation.
The creator of the 15 Minute Manifestation program is Eddie Sergey. In the program, Sergey uses binaural beats technology to access your subconscious mind, and make changes to the beliefs that are stored there. The binaural beats connect with the “editor” in your subconscious so reprogramming can take place.
Sergey has used binaural beats since he was a child. He spent a lot of his childhood in hospital and suffered from cancer. His mother gave him some binaural beats cassettes and told him to listen to them repeatedly. He did what she told him and this cured the cancer.
All that you have to do with the 15 Minute Manifestation program is listen to a 15 minute audio every day for 21 days. Nothing else is required of you. The binaural beats and the messages within the audios will get to work on your subconscious to change your thinking. Find out all about the program on the official review page here.
